I fell in love with the wheel when I was 13 years old,one of the best relationships I've got. So come and see why I still love it and I will teach you all you need to know and all that I have learnt over the many years I have been doing it. Get to know your tools (I have all the tools you will need) and the rules. Quick tour to know how the studio runs, OHS rules and setting up tools needed for the task at hand. On the first night we start with hand building techniques. We make something fabulous without any experience, makes you feel really good. Then we start the wheel (not as easy as hand building), which is why we spend quite a few weeks learning. I give you a very detailed broken down demonstration on the wheel. One of the most challenging aspects of learning the wheel is that you have to learn all of it in one go and it's a lot to remember. Only way to get better is to repeat and repeat and......... you get the picture. And that's what we do for the rest of the term, while also covering turning your vessel, different surface treatments to decorate your fabulous creations and glazing. You get to keep everything you make. All clay, glazes and firings are included in the cost. We only work with Stoneware clay and huge selection of Stoneware glazes from Mayco including some of the new ones and Walkers to choose from. Total Cost $600 (gst included) Class numbers are only 6 therefore lots of time with me when needed.
