At Simply D Ceramics, we offer expert guidance in the art of pottery through hands-on classes focused on wheel throwing and hand building techniques. Led by a passionate potter with over 20 years of experience, our sessions cater to all skill levels, fostering creativity and skill development in a supportive environment. Join us to explore your artistic potential and create beautiful ceramic pieces that reflect your personal style. Day 1. Quick tour to know how the studio runs, setting up and tools needed for the task at hand. We start with hand-building techniques making a cup, bowl and plate. Pinch pots and slabs. Day 2. Fundamental techniques for throwing on the wheel. Day 3. Trimming/turning for wheel thrown pots and surface treatment. Day 4. Glazing your fabulous creations. One of the most challenging aspects of learning the wheel is that you have to learn all of it in one go and it's a lot to remember. My teaching method is to break it down, so we do it step by step. All clay, glazes and firings are included in the cost and all firings are done in the studio. We only work with Stoneware clay and huge selection of Stoneware glazes from Mayco including some of the new ones and Walkers to choose from and this means it can go in a dishwasher, microwave and oven, as it is fired to 1285 degrees.
