The first 2 classes are all about learning to throw on the wheel. This class is for all levels, for beginners who wish to learn from a very passionate pottery teacher, with over 25 years experience, the fundamental techniques required to prepare the clay and throw a pot on the wheel or if you are experienced and need to come and play with the clay on the wheel. Get to know your tools and the OHS rules. Quick tour to know how the studio runs, setting up, tools needed for the wheel. how to knead your clay, followed by a detailed broken down demonstration by me on the wheel. One of the most challenging aspects of learning the wheel is that you have to learn all of it in one go and it's a lot to remember. The only way to get better is to repeat and repeat and......... you get the picture. And that's what we do for 2 weeks, The last class is turning/trimming your pots, and application of different surface treatments to decorate your fabulous creations. You will finish up with anywhere from 4 to 6 pots. There is no glazing in this course, I will either apply clear glaze or you will have the option to pay for another class to come and choose your own glazes. This will be discussed in the last class. NB: You will be joining a group that has already been running for 4 weeks. It is always good to see what other people are achieving, very inspiring. All clay, glazes and firings are included in the cost and all firings are done in the studio. We only work with Stoneware clay and a selection of Stoneware glazes from Mayco and Walkers to choose from and this means it can go in a dishwasher, microwave and oven, as it is fired to 1285 degrees.
