A class for the Home School Teenagers (I started learning the wheel when I was 12yrs old, first year of high school).I am a very passionate pottery teacher, with over 25 years experience, and I will teach you all I know about clay, from throwing on the wheel to handbuilding techniques. Get to know your tools and the rules. On the first day we start with hand building and on the second week we start the wheel. Quick tour to know how the studio runs, setting up, tools needed for the wheel. how to knead your clay, followed by a detailed broken down demonstration by me on the wheel. One of the most challenging aspects of learning the wheel is that you have to learn all of it in one go and it's a lot to remember. Only way to get better is to repeat and repeat and......... you get the picture. And that's what we do for the rest of the term, while also covering turning your vessel, different surface treatments to decorate your fabulous creations and glazing. All clay, glazes and firings are included in the cost and all firings are done in the studio. We only work with Stoneware clay and huge selection of Stoneware glazes from Mayco including some of the new ones and Walkers to choose from and this means it can go in a dishwasher, microwave and oven, as it is fired to 1285 degrees. Total Cost $435 (gst included) Simply book in to secure your spot. Doors will be open 15 minutes prior to class starting. Please be sure of your booking as our policy is no refunds and no credits. If your miss a class the only time to make this up will be on Saturday mornings at an extra cost.
