Over 4 days all aspects of working with clay either by hand or on the wheel will be covered to get you on your pottery journey. I was very lucky to start when I was 12 in High School. Itinery: Day 1. We start with the easy one. You will learn the art of making slabs as a base of a pot and rolling coils to attach to build the walls to make a medium sized pot. Day 2. It's all about the wheel. Know the rules and your tools for set up, You will learn how to prepare the clay by kneading, how to centre clay on the wheel, bring up the walls to make a pot. The only way to get better is to repeat and repeat, which is what we do for the whole day. Day 3. We get to have another go on the wheel in the morning, and in the afternoon, we start to trim the base of our pot and we will also cover surface treatment with scraffitto and underglazing. Day4. Continue trimming our pots and depending on time we may cover some more handbuilding. There is no glazing in this program. All work needs to be completely dry before it has its first firing. Work will then be glazed either in a clear or white glaze. all of this will take anywhere upto 4 weeks and you will be notified when they are ready to be picked up How each day will look. 8.30am to 9am - Drop off, Hi to Shadow (that's my dog and she loves kids and attention at the beginning then she sleeps most of the day) tour of the studio 9am to 10.30am - Handuilding slabs and coils 10.30am to 10.45 - Quick morning tea 10.45am to 12.30 pm- Hanbuilding 12.30pm to 1.30pm- Lunch 1.30pm to 3.30pm- We finish our coil pot 3.30pm to 4pm- Pick up Cost per child for the 4 days with everything included is $480 Must bring your own food and drinks and no later arrival than 9am. It is a 4 day program therefor all 4 days to be booked.
