Service Description

The Ceramics Clay Collective is limited to only 5 spots in each 3 day, 9 week programmes run during the school terms. There are 2 options to choose from and you are able to come any time from 8.30 to 10pm, ( if you are a shift worker and you wish to access the studio out side of these hours, something can be arranged. You must have a minimum 1 years experience either with me or another pottery school and be experienced in all facets of studio practices. Must be competent in: 1. All wheel throwing techniques 2.Handbuilding techniques 3. Clay recycling 4. OH&S in Pottery Studios 5. Kiln knowledge an advantage, however not necessary. You will have use of an RK55 Shimpo Wheel, all tools, kneading boards, recycling of clay bats, all firings bisques and stoneware firings (we only work with stoneware clays glazes and firings in the studio) are done by me. There is a small kiln you can use if you are experienced with kilns, must make your own setters for glaze firings. Shelving for work only. Drill for mixing recycled clay. Your will need to bring your own towel, apron, buckets for clay recycling. I do have all the tools necessary for the wheel, however I'm sure by this stage you will have you own favorite tools to bring, no wires to be used on the wheel, we use twisted fishing line and if you don't have one can show you how to make on. You will buy your own clay and glazes (can be purchased from me or in the next block at Brookvale Hobby Ceramics) If you make your own glazes, at the moment not able to store in the studio, so best to leave at home till glazing day, however in the very near future more storage space will be available. If you use bats on the wheel you must bring your own. The 2 options to choose from 1. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 2. Thursday, Friday and Saturday Cost is $810 (GST included) As spots are limited to 5 per group, in order to secure your spot please send me an email expressing your interest, your experience and if you could send a few photos of your work. I am looking for people who are passionate about there art, are respectful and honest and it is important to me that the group gels, not only together but with me as well. OH and we are here to have fun while creating in a safe place. Sometimes I will be in the studio and and there will also be classes running during some the time. Once I have received your email, I will contact you for a time to come and see the studio and see if we are a fit.
